Some Business Highlights
Some of Bob Miller's consulting business highlights are as follows:Aboriginal Relations:
- previously, for six years, conducted Progressive Aboriginal Relations (PAR) verifications for a large number of companies across Canada
- currently working with PAR companies throughout Canada as a consultant to help develop or strengthen their Aboriginal Relations programs
- chaired Leadership Council meetings for four Indian Bands belonging to the Northern Shuswap Tribal Council in regard to treaty and tribal leadership matters
- worked as a Co-Manager for a First Nation
- worked as an executive director for an Indian Friendship Centre
- worked as a faculty instructor at Nicola Valley Institute of Technology in Merritt, BC, teaching college level business administration and forestry courses
- facilitated the development of a number of strategic plans for industrial companies, businesses and not-for-profit societies
- facilitated the development of a number of First Nations community and departmental strategic plans
- worked with a First Nation on economic development strategic plans, company strategic and business plans, and company Board and management reviews
- developed a forestry strategic plan, and later implemented certain aspects of the plan including a skills assessment, training gap analysis and completion of a communications plan for a tribal economic development corporation
- developed a 5-year business plan for an Aboriginal training and employment society
- developed and updated business plans for an emergency services company
- worked on a policy review and update project for a First Nations logging company
- facilitated public meeting processes to establish public advisory committees to assist the BC government to deal with controversial public matters
- facilitated many dozens of projects, workshops and meetings
- conducted many capacity building sessions for First Nations on a variety of subjects
- facilitated large community meetings dealing with sensitive public issues for government and industry
- developed a major funding proposal for the First Nations' Emergency Services Society
- developed an agreements framework for an Indian Band in order to establish agreements with forestry, mining and other companies impacting their lands
- worked on projects to address First Nations community concerns in respect to potential logging in sacred watersheds
